As a teacher, strengthening public education is one of Mary’s top priorities.

Mary is a product of the public school system, her four children went through public schools, her mother was a public school teacher, and she is a certified bilingual school teacher. Mary is endorsed by the Lake County Federation of Teachers, Illinois Federation of Teachers and Illinois Education Association. 

Mary knows first-hand that our local schools need more resources to help our students succeed. That’s why she fought to provide critical new funding for our schools, ensuring our children receive a world-class education in classrooms that maximize individualized instruction while reducing the overreliance on property taxes. 

As our state senator, Mary will work to fix the teacher shortage, make sure our students are catching up on learning opportunities lost during the pandemic, and ensure students have access to the mental health support they need.
